LANDING NETS: BRINGING YOUR FISH IN PROPERLY IN 3 STEPS

Mishandling the landing net can lead to it being broken or even losing fish. However, bringing fish in properly to a landing net isn't difficult if you follow a few simple rules. We will explain how to bring them in easily in three steps.

Step 1

Plunge the landing net in the water to make the fish go in it. It's the fish which have to come to the landing net and not the other way round.

Step 2

Wait until the fish is brought back near to the bank before taking it out. For large fish, lift the landing net from the top.

Step 3

Gently take the fish out of the landing net before unhooking it. If you're fishing for carp, put the fish down on a damp mat beforehand.

What about you? Do you have a particular technique for getting the fish to the landing net?
