FISHING PROTECTED FROM SUN

In hot weather, it is always tempting to go to the water's edge in summer clothes to stay cool. But the good weather should not make you forget to take basic precautions against the sun's rays.  Find out how to enjoy your fishing trip safely.

COVER UP WHEN FISHING

Contrary to popular belief, the best protection against the sun is fabric not sunscreen. Wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers when the sun is out. Opt for breathable and lightweight fabrics for greater comfort. For added protection, opt for UV certified fabrics. Your head should be covered with cap or hat. The Caperlan 500 fishing cap protects the head and neck from the sun.

Remember that the sun is stronger on water. In fact, the surface of the water reflects back a portion of the rays emitted by the sun. This is glare. This phenomenon exposes you to double the sun, from the rays themselves and the surface. If you fish at the water's edge wearing shorts and t-shirt, make sure you use sun cream to prevent burning.

EYE PROTECTION

At the water's edge, eyes also suffer the adverse effects of glare. It is essential to wear sunglasses. Polarized lenses can observe what is happening below the surface even with reduced brightness while still protecting your eyes.

Polarizing glasses mitigate the effects of glare and distinguish the elements below the surface (fish, obstacles, your line).
